Teaming with partner SHO in Roppongi 3K, YOH has been a spectacular and popular member of the junior heavyweight division, as well as a master of tag team wrestling.
Returning to NJPW from excursion on October 9, 2017 under the tutelage of Rocky Romero, he formed Roppongi 3K. That same night, they defeated Ricochet and Ryusuke Taguchi to become the 54th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. SHO and YOH would also win the annual junior heavyweight tag team tournament, in both elimination and league format, three years in a row, en route to five tag title reigns.
The summer of 2021 saw SHO turn his back on his former partner, but YOH would still go from strength to strength. Reaching the final of the 2021 Best of the Super Jr., he formed a tag team with Lio Rush in 2022, winning Super Jr. Tag League. Though he and Rush came up short in a junior heavyweight tag title challenge at Wrestle Kingdom 17, YOH bounced back by challenging for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in February 2023, and one year on his destined connection to his former partner SHO resurfaced. Stealing away with the IWG Junior Heavyweight title belt after SHO had won the gold in dubious circumstances, YOH found his way into a title match at Sakura Genesis 2024.
