After a background in American football in college, Yota Tsuji debuted in 2018, and became one of the most striking and popular of Young Lion contenders.
Going on excursion to the UK and Mexico in 2021, Tsuji wasn’t seen until Dontaku 2023. There, after weeks of mysterious videos, Tsuji returned to confront the IWGP World heavyweight Champion SANADA, delivering a massive spear and issuing a challenge for Dominion on June 4. Tsuji fell short in his challenge, but still talked a big game and took on big opposition. Learning from his experiences against SANADA, and Will Ospreay in Kobe in the autumn, he went on to defeat Yuya Uemura in a hair versus hair match in February 2024 before winning the New Japan Cup and moving on to challenge Tetsuya Naito for the World Heavyweight gold.
