Rocky Romero Hunts for X Division Gold on IMPACT 【NJoA】

Romero just short of Trey Miguel in IMPACT Wrestling thriller

IMPACT Wrestling this week saw Rocky Romero battle Trey Miguel in the hunt for the birthday present of an X Division Championship, Miguel having won the vacant title at Bound For Glory the prior weekend.

After both men looked for the early upper hand, the King of Sneaky Style struck, Romero poking Miguel in the eyes. The ill-earned advantage didn’t last for Rocky though, a dropkick scoring for Miguel, who planted his challenger face first on the apron.

The X Division Champion looked for more flashy offense, taking Romero’s arm and leaping to the top rope, but Rocky would instead pull Miguel arm first across the top strand. Miguel stayed mobile and dangerous, hitting a quebrada, but the arm was clearly troubling the champion. Romero would drop a knee across the arm of Miguel, and counter the champion’s Tiger feint with a dropkick that sent him tumbling to the outside.

Sliced Rocky got a near two for Romero, who continued to work for the Diablo Armbar, finally getting it off a hurricanrana, but Miguel would quickly roll to his feet and deliver a powerbomb out of the painful predicament. Landing a rising knee, Miguel went up top for his Meteora finisher, but Romero would counter, rolling back into a half crab.

As Miguel made the ropes, Romero rained in Forever Clotheslines to the champion, but only got to three before being struck by a brainbuster. Following swiftly, Miguel went upstairs and connected with the Meteora to log a successful defence.

IMPACT Wrestling’s World Heavyweight Champion Moose will wrestle Juice Robinson in a non-title bout at Battle in the Valley. Former X Division Champion Josh Alexander will face Yuya Uemura. TICKETS
