JONAH Eliminates Finlay on STRONG 【NJoA】

JONAH stands tall after STRONG main event

The main event of NJPW STRONG on January 15 saw JONAH go head to head with David Finlay. After being flattened by JONAH back at Battle in the Valley, Finlay would waste no time in going after the Top Dog at the bell, and struck in combination, but a plancha would get caught, and Finlay found the ringpost instead.

In firm control, JONAH would quickly stop Finlay’s attempts to gain momentum until a second attempt at the plancha scored. With his foe on the back foot, Finlay was frenzied with strikes, and withstanding a snap powerslam, almost got three with a crucifix. An Acid Drop attempt was foiled with a back breaker though, and then it was only a matter of time. A lariat, powerbomb and Tsunami followed for the dominating JONAH win.

Brody King faced the debuting Dave Dutra on STRONG. The Battle King did all he could to chop down the tree that was King, and landed a quebrada to the floor as well as a swinging DDT, but there was too much of the Big Bad master of violence. After a top rope elbow drop missed, Brody quickly responded and took firm control with massive lariats and the Gonso Bomb to grab victory.

Starting the evening, the LA Dojo combination of Kevin Knight and Karl Fredericks faced Stray Dog Army’s Misterioso and Bateman. Hungry for a statement win, Misterioso and Bateman isolated Knight effectively before a signature dropkick rocked Bateman. With effective teamwork, and a big top rope legdrop from Misterioso, Stray Dog Army took hold of Fredericks, but as the match broke down a spinebuster and MD gave LA Dojo victory.
