G.o.D Get Ace Aid in Nagaoka

Hiroshi Tanahashi comes to assistance of G.o.D and Six or Nine

After the Guerrillas of Destiny formed a strange alliance with Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato in Korakuen last week, two ten man tag team matches pitted the combined forces of G.o.D and Team Six or Nine against BULLET CLUB over the weekend in Nagaoka.

Their second meeting on Monday March 21 ended in defeat, Gedo drawing the referee with a set of brass knux in hand while El Phantasmo finished off Taguchi with the CRII. Post match, a brutal assault would see all five of BULLET CLUB beat down and contain the ’69.o.D’ alliance, but help was at hand.

Hiroshi Tanahashi ran down to the ring and chased off the BULLET CLUB members, before offering a hand to Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Jado. It was the Ace that was laid out by Karl Anderson, Prince Devitt Bad Luck Fale and Tama Tonga when BULLET CLUB was formed almost nine years ago, but Tanahashi seems open to mending fences with G.o.D in their fight against their former BULLET CLUB brethren.

Time will tell whether this is an acceptance of the Guerrillas into Hontai, or whether this is a brief allegiance in the face of a common foe. Tanga Loa for his part expressed disappointment backstage at ‘needing to be saved by Tanahashi, when it’s G.o.D that used to put the beatdown on others,’ while Tama and Jedo were more grateful for the assistance. How will things play out going forward?

New Japan Cup continues live in English on March 26 in Osaka-Jo Hall on NJPW World.
