Shingo Takagi, Taichi offer KOPW 2022 rule presentations

30 count rules, Takagi style 3 falls proposed

On April 20 in Korakuen Hall, Shingo Takagi and Taichi proposed their individual rules for Monday April 25 and their KOPW 2022 trophy main event.

Takagi would head to the ring before matches kicked off in Korakuen, holding a sketch book, while Taichi appeared to speak from the heart without visual aids.

Takagi was first to present his ‘no time limit, Takagi style 3 falls match’. Takagi stated that ‘normally three falls means best two out of three, but in my rules, just doing things normally, for this title would be a waste. I said that I would choose rules that would wear you down, and not just physically but mentally, too. First will be a one count. Then a two count, then the third fall should be a normal three count. That will make us, the fans, and even the referee excited all the way through.’

Ending his presentation, Shingo said ‘last year I flew to the top as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Now I will do the same as the KOPW holder!’

In response, Taichi stated ‘What? Those rules are impossible to understand! I don’t need anything anywhere near as complicated. Those guys should be able to understand right away. Listen- my rules are this simple. Three count times ten. A 30 count match!’

‘You said you would wear me out? Well, we’re going to have a match way harder than any of your IWGP World title matches. It’ll be a total of thirty across any of our pinfalls that settles it. How about that? Let’s hurry this up and get to voting!’

Voting is currently underway on Twitter, with polls very close, despite Taichi’s attempt to sway the vote on his YouTube stream. Polls close April 23.

Vote now!
