Roppongi Vice Take on FTR, United Empire Advance on Dynamite 【NJoA】

United Empire make a massive statement on TBS

AEW Dynamite this week was highlighted by a bout for the ROH Tag Team Championships as the Roppongi Vice team of Beretta and Rocky Romero challenged champions Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood.

Romero would start with Wheeler, getting effective leg kicks and a take down before swatting away the heavyweight’s dropkick and trying for a Gedo Clutch, an armbar takedown driving Cash to the ropes. Harwood would have better luck with Beretta as he threw hard chops, and a suplex would see Trent controlled by the champions.

The Roppngi challengers were still able to dictate the pace as a half and half suplex from Beretta brought Rocky back inside. Wheeler would be isolated expertly by the former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Champions, an inverted Atomic Drop slowing but not stopping Rocky. It was sheer will that saw Wheeler stretch to tag Harwood, but he too would go for German suplex rides from Beretta before a reversal saw Trent thrown for a hattrick and bridge for two.

Nomisugi knees would connect to Harwood and Romero cleared Wheeler from the ring for a springboard dropkick double team that nearly saw new champions crowned. On the back foot, Wheeler would cut off Romero from the outset to help buy Harwood time, but Strong Zero connected; still Wheeler just barely made the save.

Just as the match was set to rush to its conclusion, Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb made a stunning appearance. The Imperial Drop would lay out Wheeler, a Tour of the Islands planting Romero before  a Doctor Bomb sent Hardwood through one table and the Eliminator put Beretta through another. The match thrown out, it was certainly clear that United Empire are plotting big things for Forbidden Door on June 26.
