Time Bomb Soars to Glory With Historic BOSJ Win

Three in a row, four overall for Hiromu Takahashi

Watch the BOSJ final replay now!

Hiromu Takahashi is the Best of the Super Jr. 29 winner, the Time Bomb besting El Desperado in a thrilling Nippon Budokan to claim an unprecedented third straight BOSJ trophy and fourth overall.

Tension filled the Budokan air as Hiromu and Desperado tied up, with Desperado being dealt the first heavy blow, a shot into the ring post from the outside badly damaging his midsection  Desperado would quickly match injury with injury though, hyper extending Hiromu’s already hurt knee, and quickly delivering a receipt for the damaged ribs with a hard slam on the floor.

Desperado continued to work over the knee, slowing Takahashi to a crawl before a quick surge of momentum saw a brief break with a tijeras. Going high risk, Hiromu would launch a shotgun dropkick off the apron, burying his feet into the guts and injured ribcage of his rival. Trying to gain space to breathe, Desperado would look for a spear, but got caught with Hiromu’s D. The knee was still a significant issue though, as Desperado chop blocked the LIJ member, and as Takahashi went for a sunset bomb his base gave way, leaving Desperado to fly with a tope con giro.

A Mad Splash followed in the ring for two, but Hiromu would resist Guitarra Del Angel, instead being placed in a stretch muffler as Desperado worked for Numero Dos. The increasingly frantic Hiromu would make the ropes, and caught Desperado again in D; the masked man seemed to fade almost completely out but barely escaped and made his feet to trade heavy blows with Takahashi.

Desperado would throw harder, rocking Hiromu with a pair of rights and setting for Pinche Loco, but Takahashi would escape, planting a pair of thrust kicks and then getting two from a Hiromu Bomber lariat. Victory Royal would follow, but Time Bomb II did not, Desperado getting his own nearfall from El Es Clero and Guitarra Del Angel before dropping his nemesis with two straight Pinche Locos, incredibly only getting two.

The frustrated Desperado went for the kill, repeated ground Dragon Screws leading to Numero Dos. Hiromu would try and sit up out of the hold, and then wriggled out of the following Bastard Driver to hit a Destroyer, but the Suzuki-Gun member incredibly kept moving forward, getting blasted with a lariat but kicking out. Hiromu would follow up with Time Bomb II, but Desperado would almost imperceptibly roll a shoulder.

The two traded hard closed fists, with Desperado getting the last blow, but collapsing to the mat with the effort. Desperado would muscle Hiromu up for Pinche Loco again but was countered with a pair of Stunners, and Hiromu then landed the Time Bomb before hitting a wrist clutch version of Time Bomb II, the Time Bomb 2.5 for the victory.
