Tanahashi defeats Hirooki Goto to advance to Forbidden Door.

Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Hirooki Goto on June 12 at Dominion in order to advance to Forbidden Door on June 26, where he will meet Jon Moxley for the Interim AEW World Championship. 

Well aware of Tanahashi’s dangerous knee based offense, and his brutal knockout palm strikes, Goto would work to avoid both and started aggressively, sending the Ace tumbling over the top to the floor. There, Goto willed himself to rally back from a guardrail shot, and clobbered Tanahashi with a lariat. Yet it would indeed be the hard shot that got the Ace some space, and a somersault senton would get him two. 

Moments later, the Ace would score with a  Dragon Screw, and then the second part of the plan came through with a palm strike that left Goto glassy eyed. An Ushigoroshi would get Goto some time, but a second attempt would see him countered into a modified Slingblade. Though Goto would respond with a tope hung neckbreaker and powerful mid kick, another mighty left hand would drop the CHAOS member, and Tanahashi would outwit Goto in his rope work to land another Slingblade and the High Fly Flow.

Tanahashi will now face Jon Moxley on June 26 at Forbidden Door on pay per view.
