Top Guys and Aussie Open in Japan? Six man action sees challenge issued 【NJoA】

Challenged laid down to FTR after six man bout

Order the Music City Mayhem replay now!

In six-man tag team action, United Empire’s Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis of Aussie Open with TJP squared off against FTR’s Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood with Alex Zayne at Music City Mayhem in Nashville on July 30th. The combination of the Top Guys and triple tag team champions facing the STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship finalists was intriguing indeed, and the match certainly delivered.

The bell sounded with Zayne and TJP in the ring. Both wrestlers proved to be evenly matched and, impressed, Zayne offered his hand to TJP. Setting the tone for this match, TJP refused the handshake and poked Zayne in the eye instead. When Harwood, then Wheeler got the tag, the fan’s appreciation for the tag team rang through the venue. As Wheeler and Davis faced off, Davis knocked his opponent out of the ring where his United Empire teammates were waiting. They attacked Wheeler on the floor, quickly spurring Harwood and Zayne to rush to their teammate’s aid. Pandemonium ensued and all six wrestlers brawled on the outside.

As the two legal men, Davis and Wheeler rolled back into the ring, they continued to exchange blows. United Empire tried to capitalize on the isolated Wheeler by employing multiple tags to keep a fresh member working on their tiring opponent. When Fletcher tried to knock Wheeler’s teammates off the apron, they saw him coming and ducked his attempt, leaving Fletcher open for a back body drop from Wheeler. With Fletcher stunned and the pathway to his teammates clear, Wheeler made the tag to Harwood. United Empire rushed the fresh FTR member, but Harwood made quick work of them. Then Zayne, Wheeler, and Harwood snatched up TJP, Fletcher, and Davis and delivered stereo suplexes to the United Empire team.

With the United Empire members still reeling, FTR showed off some of their elite tag team skills and their flawless integration of Zayne by setting Fletcher up for Zayne’s corkscrew off the top turnbuckle. It looked like the match would end in a victory for FTR and Zayne, but Davis and TJP broke up the pin at the last second. Aussie Open set up a reeling Zayne on the top turnbuckle, but before they could perform whatever dastardly move they had planned, Zayne escaped. He evaded the charging TJP, then used his opponent’s back to step up into a double hurricanrana on Fletcher and Davis off the top rope. Sure the match was won, Zayne power bombed Fletcher and the crowd was just as shocked as he was when Fletcher kicked out. Davis slid in to help his teammate and together Aussie Open hit Corealis on Zayne for the win in 14 minutes and 30 seconds.

The post match attracted as much attention as the match itself. Fletcher would take to the microphone to state that his team had just beaten the champions, and that meant they were in line for a shot at the IWGP Tag Team Championship gold. As the mic failed him, Dax would bellow from ringside that ‘if you want a fight, we can do it in Japan’. Could we see Aussie Open and FTR in a Japanese ring in the near future?
