Titan joins LIJ, changes face of junior ranks
An eight man tag team bout at Declaration of Power on October 10 saw Los Ingobernables De Japon and United Empire in spectacular action, but it was a twist in the tale that really caught everyone’s attention.
The match was growing chaotic as Osaka IWGP United States Championship opponents Tetsuya Naito and Will Ospreay went full bore at one another before both spilled to the floor, knocking the referee down in the process. BUSHI looked to capitalize with a Codebreaker, but was cut off by Akira who went for BUSHI’s mask, before a mysterious masked figure got involved.
The masked man attacked both Akira and TJP, allowing BUSHI to pick up the MX win over the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship team. Grabbing the microphone, the mysterious figure revealed himself to be CMLL’s ‘Immortal’ Titan, saying that he wanted new opportunities in NJPW, and to seize them, he chose to join Los Ingobernables De Japon. As the other LIJ members held a vote of raised fists, it seemed as if Titan was allowed on board, and eyes will certainly be on the group’s first non-Japanese member in the weeks to come.
