Main event: STRONG Survivor Match
Taking special center stage on STRONG this week will be the first STRONG Survivor Match. In this kickoff to the new year, a new number one contender to the STRONG Openweight Championship currently held by Fred Rosser will be named under unique rules. The match will begin as a battle royal with mystery entrants. As eliminations are made, the crowd will thin until four remain in the ring. Then, eliminations will take place by pinfall or submission until the STRONG Survivor remains. Who will get their 2023 off to a huge start?
1st Match: Alan Angels & Hikuleo vs BULLET CLUB (Jay White & El Phantasmo)
Kicking off the year on NJPW STRONG will be tag team action, as Hikuleo and Alan Angels will face El Phantasmo and Jay White. The question on everyone’s lips is whether Switchblade Jay White will be entering on STRONG this week with the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Whatever the result against Kazuchika Okada on january 4, he will be a massive target for Alan Angels and Hikuleo, just short in his NEVER Openweight Challenge to Karl Anderson last month, especially.
