KONGO confront LIJ backstage at Dome 【WK17】

Kenoh demands singles test

Watch the Wrestle Kingdom replay!

Moments after falling in defeat to Keiji Muto, Shota Umino and Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom, Los Ingobernables De Japon’s BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito were joined by Shingo Takagi backstage when they were confronted en masse by Pro-Wrestling NOAH’s KONGO faction.

As Kenoh led Katsuhiko Nakajima, Manabu Soya, Hi69, Tadasuke and Hajime Ohara to the backstage area, Takagi taunted that perhaps the NOAH group had gotten confused between the Tokyo Dome and Korakuen Hall, before asking the recent GHC heavyweight challenger why the group was there. Kenoh responded with ‘I came here to give a new year’s greeting. Happy New Year- as if! Do you really think that things are settled between KONGO and LIJ?’

Naito responded in the affirmative, stating ‘yep. I definitely remember seeing and hearing the three count. I think people there and watching on NJPW World saw it too.’

The abrasive Kenoh spat back ‘you’re satisfied with that? LIJ really think that’s something to be happy with?’

‘Yeah, ‘fraid so. I mean, we won, so.’

Takagi intervened saying ‘nobody remembers all that stuff from a whole year ago,’ sending the furious Kenoh response that ‘we came here to settle this, and we can either find a time and place or do it right now. We want closure on this.’ Shingo would reply that ‘You can have whatever you want, a ten man tag, 8 man, six man. Singles, it doesn’t matter’.

The latter suggestion caught Kenoh’s fancy, the former GHC Heavyweight and National Champion directly addressing Naito ‘on behalf of all six of us’ by saying ‘let’s figure out who’s better one on one’. As Naito directed the group to the exit, encouraged by a hurled chair from Takagi, he suggested the group find a venue and date as soon as possible lest the high in demand LIJ have their schedules fully booked before long.
