All Together Again Announced at Joint Presser

Watch All Together Again June 9 live in English on NJPW World pay per view!

After teaser videos send out by New Japan, All Japan and Pro-Wrestling NOAH hit social media this past weekend, a special joint press conference on April 12 confirmed that All Together would take place on Friday June 9 in Ryogoku Sumo Hall.

NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi made the official announcement with the following:

‘In 2020, our daily lives were upended by the COVID pandemic. The wrestling business also went from cancelled events, to no crowds, and steadily reducing restrictions. Now, after careful, steady progress, now one can say we’re as close as can be to our previous everyday lives.

With a feeling of renewal and a new beginning, as well as a desire to bring energy to the world through the power of pro-wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, All Japan Pro-Wrestling and Pro-Wrestling NOAH will join for the first All Together event since February 2012.

With the words of NJPW’s legendary founder Antonio Inoki, the subtitle of the event will be “if you have the energy, you can do anything”. All Together Again will take place on Friday, April 9 2023 at 6PM in Ryogoku Sumo Hall.

Tickets will go on sale on Sunday, April 23, and will be broadcast live in Japanese and English on NJPW World Pay Per View at a price of 3,980 Yen.

A portion of proceeds from All Together Again will be donated to charity, with more details to be announced.

We’re excited for wrestlers and wrestling fans to bring their energy to the world, with an event that truly does make anything possible.

NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya, AJPW’s Kento Miyahara and NJPW’s Hiroshi Tanahashi were on hand to give their thoughts on the announcement. ‘When the first All Together happened, I was still in middle school,’ remarked Kiyomiya. ‘But talking to the staff that were there that day, they explained how there was a real sense of togetherness, and that for the people to have fun, the staff had to have fun as well. I feel the same way from a wrestler’s standpoint as well, and even though I’ll be competing, I want to enjoy this event.’

‘I’m already excited to be a part of this event, to combine all three of our companies,’ Miyahara would state. ‘When cheering returned to pro-wrestling, that was when we were able to have a new start. I hope pro-wrestling fans are pumped for the kind of card that only an event like this can offer. I’m more excited than anyone.’

Hiroshi Tanahashi would round out the comments, saying that ‘over ten years have gone by since the last All Together. I think the primary goal here is for wrestling fans to enjoy themselves, but then to take a positive energy and power that wrestling provides, and bring that to their families, their friends and their workplaces. I think that professional wrestling can bring a tremendous positive energy to the world on June 9.’

When asked if there were any wrestlers each participant would like to face or team with, Kiyomiya would name his fellow attendees. Miyahara quipped that if ‘I say too much about the booking here, it’ll just create trouble,’ but that fans had two months to speculate about what might happen, and that was exciting unto itself. Tanahashi said that he had been able to team with Miyahara in the past ‘but I think he had more energy than me. I want to be in a match with him again and correct that’.

Each wrestler was asked of their thoughts on the other two, prompting Kiyomiya to say that both had carried their respective promotions and that he hoped to gain some of ‘their positive energy’ through All Together Again. Miyahara complimented Kiyomiya’s ability to lead at such a young age, while saying that Tanahashi was a figure ‘the whole wrestling world should respect, before saying that with himself in his 30s, Kiyomiya in his 20s and Tanahashi in his 40s, it was a combination of generations as well as promotions.

Tanahashi would have praise for Kiyomiya’s good looks and Miyahara’s energy and charisma, prompting the AJPW rep to jab ‘what about my looks?’. Tanahashi would say that he felt Kiyomiya and Miyahara added together equalled Tanahashi, a comment that drew good natured criticism from Miyahara with ‘that makes you look too good, calm down a bit’.

Final comments had each address the event’s subtitle and Antonio Inoki’s famous words. Kiyomiya would admit that he was never able to have direct contact with Inoki, but that the concept of having an ‘unbreakable resolve and energy in the face of adversity is something I want to show in this event.’ Miyahara said that ‘every time I’m in the ring I feel I want the fans to leave with something they can use and something to help them,’ adding that he wanted to bring the most energy to All Together. Tanahashi closed by saying that Inoki had gone through life always ready and willing to ‘start something and make things happen’. With the promise that the ‘work ethic and motivation Inoki brought is something we can all learn from and take with us,’ Tanahashi brought an end to an up beat press conference with plenty of excitement in the air.
