David Finlay makes unexpected power play at Power Struggle

IWGP US, UK Championships smashed to smithereens by David Finlay and Gedo post main event

After a classic main event between Shota Umino and WIll Ospreay for the IWGP United States and United Kingdom Championships November 4 at Power Struggle, Ospreay bowed in respect to the young Umino, but there was much more to the night than another Ospreay classic.

Watch the replay now!

Ospreay would call Moxley into the ring, angry at how Moxley’s absence from NJPW during the pandemic meant ‘you made this belt mean nothing,’ as well as showing his anger from a controversial finish in April 2022 that saw Moxley defeat Ospreay in a highly disputed call with Ospreay’s shoulder clear of the canvas. Just as both men went nose to nose though, David Finlay snuck in and levelled both men with a shillelagh.

‘Let me tell you about these belts. In the UK, they call me American,’ Finlay would state as he tossed the UK belt aside. ‘In the US, I’m Irish’. Showing his disdain for both titles, and at Gedo’s request, Finlay produced a sledgehammer and destroyed both title belts. As a livid Moxley and Ospreay slowly came to, Gedo would state that the titles ‘meant nothing,’ before saying ‘there will be a new belt for a new era’. Time will tell what tat means for Wrestle Kingdom and beyond.
