Will Ospreay stuns IMPACT opposite Alexander

Stunning main event headlines IMPACT TV

The main event of IMPACT Wrestling on November 16 saw Will Ospreay face IMPACT’s Walking Weapon Josh Alexander in a first time ever singles matchup.

Amid ‘TNA’ and ‘this is awesome’ chants raining on both men before first contact, Ospreay looked to shoot a quick tackle to no avail before being bowled over by the former IMPACT World Champion. In response, Ospreay got quick with a tijeras and a high angle plancha to take control. After heavy chops from the Briton, Alexander fired back with a forearm shiver; an impressed Ospreay would try to get quick once again, but was countered into a Sharpshooter that drove him to the ropes.

Responding to the lower back damage done by the submission hold, Ospreay would drop the Walking Weapon with a backbreaker and then a standing shooting star press for two. Representing the IMPACT brand opposite outside competition, Alexander needed to respond and did, rattling off a pair of German Suplexes before catching his foe with a brutal Powerbreaker. Now Alexander was in his element, and drilled Ospreay with a low cross body tope.

As Alexander managed to use his size and strength to his advantage, the Walking Weapon continued to work over the back and midsection of Ospreay. Having to work from underneath, a handspring overhead worked for the United Empire leader, but an avalanche senton drop scored big for Alexander; the adrenaline now flowing Ospreay summoned up a sit out powerbomb, and both men were now feeling the effects of a grueling bout.

Shoving Alexander off the top when he tried for a German suplex, Ospreay went for the Leap of Faith, but landed awkwardly on his right ankle. Instantly seizing on the opportunity, Alexander went into an ankle lock. Ospreay got distance but had no base for the OsCutter instead being caught in the hold once again; a second try at OsCutter connected, but Ospreay couldn’t launch himself into the Hidden Blade.

Smelling victory, Alexander uncorked Chaos Theory for two, before going back to the ankle lock. Using his good leg as a base, a frantic Ospreay sprang off the left foot for a super OsCutter, only for Stormbreaker to be countered into a piledriver.  The Walking Weapon had designs on the C4 Spike, but was stunned with a Hideden Blade, and the full course of a second elbow, the Storm Driver ’93 and Strombreaker saw Ospreay to victory.
