Kiyomiya gets one up on HOT, Ishii, Kojima Zack and Tanahashi do battle in NOAH 【WK18】

Pro-Wrestling NOAH got their 2024 started on January 2 at Ariake Arena with their New Year card seeing heavy presence from NJPW.

Two singles matches pit NOAH against NJPW in highly physical and hard hitting encounters. Tomohiro Ishii and Masa Kitamiya did battle in a match where neither heavyweight would give ground to another, strikes eventually sending both men crumpling to the mat. Kitamiya would have Ishii struggling in his Prison Hold, before the Stone Pitbull made the ropes. As each reset, they would end up clashing skulls with Kitamiya bleeding from his own head before a Vertical Drop Brainbuster gave Ishii the win.

Go Shiozaki took on Satoshi Kojima. An equally hard fought bout saw Shiozaki look for the Go Flasher on the apron but the promotional ace took a DDT on the apron instead. Shiozaki would battle back with a massive superplex, but a follow up from the corner would instead see Kojima swat Go out of the air. In the end thoughShiozaki would power through a Kojima lariat attempt with one of his own to pick up the victory and level the score for NOAH.

A preview of Zack Sabre Jr. vs Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom saw the Ace follow through on his stated aims of trying to avcoid the ground game with Zack. After early submission attempts from ZSJ, strikes and a second rope high cross would change things for Tanahashi, yet it was the Ace’s tag partner HAYATA who fell to Yoshinari Ogawa and ZSJ who won via submission.
Kaito Kiyomiya also got one up on EVIL as Shota Umino joined Team NOAH in a 12 man elimination bout against HOUSE OF TORTURE. Ren Narita and Shota Umino continued their struggles, both eliminating one another and fighting to the back, while the match boiled down to EVIL and Kiyomiya. Fighting fire with fire, Kiyomiya kicked EVIL low in the ropes and then landed a huge Shining Wizard over the top that sent EVIL crashing to the floor and brought victory to the NOAH side.
