The card for night two of the NEW BEGINNING in Sapporo has been decided, and January 28 will be headlined by a huge main event in Hokkaido Kitayell. The IWGP United States Championship will be on the line when champion Kenny Omega takes on Switchblade Jay White.

Kenny Omega started 2018 in fine form when he was victorious in his global dream match with Chris Jericho. January 5 in Korakuen, Omega invited Jay White into Bullet Club, stating that he saw potential in White to unify the group. Yet White would respond by laying Omega out with a Bladerunner. The next day, White would announce he was joining CHAOS and making a challenge for Omega’s US title. After a disappointing loss to Hiroshi Tanahashi in his return match at Wrestle Kingdom, White again finds himself on the cusp of a huge opportunity. Yet it will be difficult to make a stepping stone of an Omega who will be furious and thirsty for revenge after the Korakuen assault.

The second title match on January 28 will see Roppongi 3K receive a rematch for their recently lost IWGP Junior Tag Team Championships. At Wrestle Kingdom, the Young Bucks captured the titles for a record seventh time from RPG3K. This marked SHO and YOH’s first tag team defeat since returning to Japan in October 2017. The impressive young tag team won’t want to make a habit of losing as they get another shot at arguably the best tag team in the world.

We’ll also see a battle for faction dominance in Sapporo. As a preview for a series of five singles matches at New Beginning in Osaka February 10, CHAOS and Los Ingobernables De Japon will face off in a ten man tag match. Kazuchika Okada, Hirooki Goto, Gedo, YOSHI-HASHI and Will Ospreay will clash with Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi, EVIL, BUSHI and SANADA. This will be a key opportunity for one faction to make a statement at the other’s expense.

Six man tag action on January 28 will see Kota Ibushi, KUSHIDA and David Finlay face Cody, Marty Scurll and Hangman Page. Cody, Ibushi and Kenny Omega have found themselves in a bizarre ‘love/hate triangle’ of late, and are joined by KUSHIDA and Scurll who both will look to bounce back up to IWGP Junior Heavyweight contention.

A day after Hiroshi Tanahashi and Minoru Suzuki collide for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, the two find themselves in tag team action as Tanahashi pairs with Michael Elgin and Suzuki teams up with Takashi Iizuka. It seems whoever walks out of Hokkaido Kita Yell on January 27 as Intercontinental Champion, the dispute between Tanahashi and Suzuki will continue as vengeance is sought.

We’ll also see match three of Katsuya Kitamura’s seven match proving series. This time, Kitamura faces Juice Robinson. Kitamura’s potential is undeniable, but how will he cope with a former title contender in Juice?
