It may be just days since New Japan rocked Los Angeles for Strong Style Evolved, but the show never ends, and on March 30 we head to Korakuen for the last show ahead of Sakura Genesis from Ryogoku Sumo Hall.
In the main event in Korakuen, we get a preview of the Sakura Genesis IWGP Heavyweight Championship match, as Kazuchika Okada teams with YOSHI-HASHI against Zack Sabre Junior and Taichi. At Strong Style Evolved we saw IWGP Champion and challenger lock horns for the first time, and the British New Japan Cup winner showed Okada his technical prowess. ZSJ submitted Tomohiro Ishii and followed up by locking Okada in a humiliating and painful stretch. Okada will look to change the tide of momentum here. Don’t take your eyes off the two tag partners either; YOSHI-HASHI is in dire need of a win, as is Taichi, who will want to convert strong performances so far as a heavyweight into actual results.
Korakuen will also see EVIL return to action as he teams with SANADA, Tetsuya Naito, BUSHI and Hiromu Takahashi, Los Ingobernables De Japon taking on the Suzuki Gun team of Minoru Suzuki, Davey Boy Smith Junior, Lance Archer, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado.
Suzuki Gun and LIJ have been at war for quite some time now. Minoru Suzuki has been obsessed with Naito of late with a series of brutal assaults. Meanwhile, on March 21, KES (Smith and Archer) made the world aware of their intent to recapture the IWGP Tag Team Championships from EVIL and SANADA. Then, Hiromu and BUSHI are getting set to join Roppongi 3K in challenging for Desperado and Kanemaru’s IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. This faction warfare is approaching boiling point.
At Sakura Genesis on April 1, The Taguchi Japan Team of a Ryusuke Taguchi, Michael Elgin and Togi Makabe will challenge for the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championships. At Korakuen on the 30th, they get a tune up match, but Coach Taguchi needs to be careful not to let Manabu Nakanishi, Hiroyoshi Tenzan or Tomoyuki Oka find the metaphorical net. This match and more join a stacked Korakuen lineup.
