On June 9 at Dominion in Osaka Jo Hall, Kenny Omega bested Kazuchika Okada in the first ever no time limit two out of three falls match. After losing the first fall, Omega won falls two and three to capture the IWGP Heavyweight Championship after over an hour of action.

On June 11, Omega faced the press as champion to talk about his historic win, and facing Cody at the G1 Special in San Francisco.
