NJPW on AXS Premiers 2 Action Packed Episodes in 1 Night!!

This Friday Night, March 10th, 2017, New Japan Pro Wrestling fans will receive a double dose of the most action packed wrestling show on television, AXS TV premiers two brand new episodes of New Japan Pro Wrestling.

At 7:00 PM ET, you will witness 2 big matches from the 2016 G1 you will see the only 3 time G1 Climax winner and one of the most decorated men in New Japan Pro Wrestling history, Hiroyoshi Tenzan taking on Tomohiro Ishii.

Tenzan comes in not as prepared as he normally would be. He is taking the place of his injured Tencozy tag team partner Satoshi Kojima. The former 4x IWGP Heavy Weight Champion has the heart of a lion and will need it here as his opponent is without a doubt one of the toughest men to lace up a pair of boots, “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii. Ishii is coming into 4th G1 Climax with a lot of momentum, can he ride it to victory here?

Our main event will feature the ACE of NJPW, Hiroshi Tanahashi will face SANADA!

SANADA, the future star of the controversial Los Ingobernables de Japon (L.I.J.) has his sights on upsetting the legendary Tanahashi in his first G1 Climax.

Tanahashi is a former 7x IGWP Heavyweight Champion, 2x G1 Climax winner and has faced and defeated the very best. Can he stay ahead of the future and defeat SANADA en route to a 3rd G1 Climax victory? Or will the young stud of L.I.J. be too much for the ACE to handle?

In our second premier episode on Friday, March 10th 8:00 PM ET, we will see A Block action from G1 CLIMAX 26. This event emanated from the Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center.

The opening match will feature a battle of Hirooki Goto faces off against the Bullet Club “The Underboss” Bad Luck Fale.

Goto is a beast! A warrior with fire in his eyes that has been close to winning the big one on multiple times. Is it his time to win the G1 Climax? Is this his big one?

Fale is a destroyer. He has consistently performed well in the G1 Climax. A win here will definitely put him in prime position to potentially run the table.

Your main event is going to be the match that Tokyo Sports rated the Match of The Year in 2016 as “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada cases the challenge of Naomichi Marufuji!

Marufuji is facing potentially the greatest wrestler of this generation. Marufuji is no stranger to tough competition in Japan, but Okada is a different level. Is he prepared?

“Rainmaker” will be prepared. Gedo will ensure his prized charge is ready to prove his dominance over this generation of Japanese superstars.

Watch and witness one of the greatest matches of 2016 only on AXS TV!

New Japan Pro Wrestling presents the biggest stars and best matches from the premier wrestling organization in Japan and the second largest and fastest growing wrestling promotion in the world. WWE Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross and former UFC Heavyweight champion and NJPW veteran Josh Barnett provide English language commentary for the series.
