At Sengoku Lord in Nagoya this Saturday (watch the replay in English here), Kota Ibushi defeated Zack Sabre Junior in an instant classic match to retain the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Post match, however, Tetsuya Naito made it known that he would like to be the Golden Star’s next challenger. 

Naito had ambitions to become the first ever double Intercontinental and Heavyweight Champion in IWGP history, but those plans were derailed at G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden.  Naito seeks to get back on track by regaining that Intercontinental title at a later date. Ibushi, for his part, wasn’t going to back down, responding to Naito’s challenge with a resounding ‘si!’ and stating after the match that he wanted to be put opposite Naito every night for the rest of the Dontaku tour. 

The NJPW committee heard Ibushi’s request and responded with some last minute card changes for the remainder of the tour, starting April 22 in Korakuen. Check out the full details on our schedule here!

May 3 and 4 in Fukuoka, Ibushi teams with Roppongi 3K against Naito, BUSHI and Takagi!
