CMLL Fantasticamania 2020 Night 6 Preview

Second Korakuen night sees family tournament finals, Titan Forastero singles clash

Korakuen Hall ticket details! (Standing Room ONLY!)

Watch Fantasticamania LIVE and in English on NJPW World!

The main events of the evening will see the culmination of this year’s family tag team tournament. The two winners from Thursday january 19 will meet in the main event finals, with a third place playoff taking the semi-main spot. Who will emerge as the dominant dynasty of Fantasticamania 2020?

Main event: Sanson & Cuatrero vs Niebla Roja & Angel De Oro

The finals of the family tag tournament will see two sibling teams battle it out. Niebla Roja and Angel De Oro have gone from two straight losses in last year’s Fantasticamania tournament to making it to the finals in 2020. Can they repeat their victory in the Mexican version of the tournament, and send a message to Nueva Generacion Dinamita, or will Sanson and Cuatrero continue their steps up the podium from third in 2018 and second place last year?

Negro Casas & Tiger vs Euforia & Soberano Jr.

In Thursday’s first round, Soberano Junior’s incredible speed and agility wasn’t enough to overcome the side and strength of Cuatrero and Sanson. He and Euforia will look to bounce back from their loss against uncle and nephew Casas and Tiger, but even in defeat, Tiger’s high flying and Casas’ salty strikes were impressive in Korakuen Thursday.

5th Match: Caristico & Satoshi Kojima vs Barbaro Cavernario & Ultimo Guerrero

The fifth match of the evening sees a rematch from January 16’s Korakuen tag clash. With Caristico set to meet Cavernario Monday night, and Kojima taking on Guerrero Sunday in a pair of title matches, how will they react to the events of Thursday’s war? Cavernario and Guerrero stood tall in Korakuen last night when Caristico was forced to submit to Cavernaria, but the champion will look to respond to hurt pride Friday night.

4th Match: Titan vs Forastero

Titan takes on Forastero one on one in the fourth match of the evening in what should be fast paced, high flying and hard hitting. Ever since beating Forastero’s cousin and long time nemesis Sanson last year, and using his new springboard double stomp finish to do so, Titan has been on a major tear in CMLL. His surging momentum was also seen in he and Volador Juniors impressive Super Jr. Tag League run in NJPW, with a solid 8 point record.

Nueva Generacion Dinamita have been effective in trios action against Titan during this tour, but one on one is a different issue. Forastero has to overcome a 1-11 singles record in 2019; can the 25 year old start 2020 strong in singles competition?

3rd Match: Audaz, Dulce Gardenia & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Los Ingobernables De Japon (EVIL, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI)

24 hours removed from Tanahashi, Gardenia and Flyer taking on the LIJ NEVER 6-Man champs, Audaz is a high flying substitution for the tecnico trio tonight. Can they overcome the effective teamwork of the champions?

2nd Match: Guerrero Maya Jr., Flyer & Stuka Jr. vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Namajague & OKUMURA

From the youth of Flyer to the experience of Stuka Jr. and a perfect blend in Guerrero Maya Jr., this is an impressive tecnico team in our second match of the evening. Opposite them though are three intimidating rudos. Namajague and OKUMURA frequently tagged together when the former was more active on the CMLL scene, and one can never count out Kanemaru when it comes to dirty tactics.

1st Match: Ryusuke Taguchi & Fuego vs DOUKI & Luciferno

Red hot tag team action will kick us off in Korakuen, as Ryusuke Taguchi and the fiery Fuego face Luciferno & DOUKI. There’s no honour among thieves, but can DOUKI and Luciferno manage to get along, given DOUKI’s pride in his independent background against Luciferno’s CMLL history?
