A Brit Abroad with Gabriel Kidd: #RoadtoPizzaParty

Welcome everyone to the first installment of my regular diary. Dozo yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Japanese summer has finally started! Kobayashi San had told me that it would rain the whole month of June and then July would be really hot but it looks like it was a month late. As they say back home “Sun’s out, pina colada’s out John.”

One of the things I was looking forward to the most about being in Japan was travelling up and down the country. I was saying to my pal the other day, the Japanese highways blow my mind. In England the view on the highway is just trees and the occasional burger van. Japanese highway views are like something out of a painting, I’ve never in my life before seen mountains like the ones I’ve seen here.

The first shows back in front of an audience was in Osaka-Jo Hall. It was a huge career highlight for me getting to fight there, and I look forward to fighting there when it is sold out one day.

I took some time in the day to walk around Osaka and explore a little bit. I’m obsessed with sneakers and found a really cool sneaker shop. (I didn’t buy any this time, but I probably will when we go back.)

I also found a Turkish kebab shop. I ordered a kebab, it was so good so I ordered another straight away. Reminded me of eating them in England after a night out in town.

Me and Tanahashi san talk a lot about working out and diet and we had planned a cheat day after the Osaka shows. He asked me what my favourite cheat meal was. The obvious answer was PIZZA!

He said the day we get back to Tokyo we’ll have a PIZZA PARTY. He ordered 5 pizzas. Seafood, beef and cheese, meat feast, New York style, cheese and maple syrup. Cheese and maple syrup sounds so strange but honestly it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted! Back on the diet now for the next cheat meal after the Jingu stadium show. Which is… SUSHI! #RoadToSushiParty

I thought at the end of these entries, I’d add a song that I’ve been listening to recently.
Today’s tune: Summer – the Courteeners. Give it a listen and I’ll catch you next time!
