CHAOS reign over NEVER 6-Man titles in Hiroshima

CHAOS trio keep the belts at New Beginning

Night two of New Beginning in Hiroshima saw the NEVER Openweight 6-Man tag Team Championships retained by YOSHI-HASHI, Tomohiro Ishii and Hirooki Goto in a thriller of a semi main event against BULLET CLUB’s Jay White, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.

After the brawls that ran through Korakuen Hall in the last few events on the Road to New Beginning, neither the champion team nor their challengers were going to stand on ceremony, and CHAOS quickly went on the attack before the bell, all three champions singling Jay White out for punishment before pounding away on Tama Tonga.

A fired up YOSHI-HASHI continued with a headscissors to Tonga, and Hirooki Goto assisted in effective tag work to rival even the IWGP Tag Team Champions. G.o.D had the edge when the fight turned dirty however, and White would throw Ishii into the guardrails while Loa took over on YOSHI-HASHI with a devastating backdrop suplex.

Rattled, the Headhunter was unable to get back in the game, and White saw to it that YOSHI-HASHI was unable to tag Ishii in. YOSHI-HASHI’s heart refused to let him fall however, and a Bunker Buster led to a Goto tag. A Tongan Twist slowed Goto’s momentum, but a neckbreaker from the CHAOS member meant for a tag both sides, and Ishii and White colliding again.

Ishii had the upper hand on the Switchblade, dropping him with a powerslam and loading in chops to the upper chest and even the head of White. Ever the expert counterpuncher however, Jay dropped Ishii with a DDT and then sent the Stone Pitbull into the guardrail and apron. Isolated by BULLET CLUB, Ishii was punished without the benefit of the tag by G.o.D, who quickly eliminated Goto and YOSHI-HASHI when they tried to make the save.

Guerrilla Warfare was followed by a Kiwi Crusher on Ishii, who escaped at two; Goto and YOSHI-HASHI again hit the ring, but were again dispensed with as White hit the Snap Sleeper Suplex to Ishii. The head drop only seemed to fire up the terrifying Ishii, who landed a crunching headbutt and went for the Vertical Drop Brainbuster, but an uranage suplex put both men down at the 20 minute mark.

YOSHI-HASHI and Loa would get the tags on either corner, with a Headhunter neckbreaker connecting for YOSHI-HASHI before Loa found himself in the Butterfly Lock. The Tongan’s strength saw him quickly escape, and although the CHAOS member blocked a Magic Killer, he couldn’t stop a pair of spectacular dives from either corner. Goto cleared the ring as he tried to save his partner, and GYR scored on Tonga, before all three champions connected on Loa for a near fall.

As YOSHI-HASHI closed in on victory a momentary distraction from Jado caused a low blow from White, and the isolated Headhunter was nearly the victim of a Super Powerbomb. The CHAOS team rallied however, a super Brainbuster and German Suplex by Ishii taking out Tonga and White, and Goto diving to the outside, leaving YOSHI-HASHI to lock in the Butterfly again on Loa. Jado broke up the hold with his kendo stick, but didn’t break up a roll-up pin, allowing the champions to retain.

Post match YOSHI-HASHI declared that a win over the IWGP Tag Team Champions should put he and Goto to the head of the line; could double gold be in his future?
