COMPANY HISTORY

1972
In January, New Japan Pro-Wrestling Co., Ltd. was established. The first president was Kanji Inoki.
In March, a New Japan Pro-Wrestling battle event was held at the Ota Ward gymnasium.
1973
In April, the “World Wrestling” broadcast was started by the NET TV (now: Asahi TV)
1987
In June, the IWGP Heavyweight Title was established. First champion was Antonio Inoki.
1989
In April, the IWGP Heavyweight Title was established. First champion was Antonio Inoki.
In July, Seiji Sakaguchi was appointed as the President and Representative Director.
1991
In August, the first “G1 CLIMAX” was held. The winner was Masahiro Chono.
1993
In May, first performance at Fukuoka Dome was held.
