BIOGRAPHY

After building his wrestling career in Mexico for 2 years, Master Wato made an appearance for the first time at New Japan Cup 2020 on July 3, promising to make it to the top in NJPW.

Wato would quickly be taken under the wing of Hiroyoshi Tenzan, who has been Wato’s coach ever since. Teaching Wato signature moves including the Tenzan Tombstone Driver, the veteran will be supporting Wato each step along the way to him achieving his goal of Grand Master status. With several voices in his ear, Wato sometimes lacked conviction, but a tag team with Ryusuke Taguchi saw ‘Six or Nine’ to the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, and to more confidence for Wato- confidence enough for him to pin Taiji Ishimori in a Ryogoku singles bout in October 2022.

In 2023 Wato entered the Best of the Super Jr.30, winning the tournament for the first time in his career, and becoming the youngest Japanese BOSJ winner. Wato claimed his challenge to the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Hiromu Takahashi, and the match was set for Dominion.
