Karl Fredericks starts Resurgence with Coughlin victory 【NJoA】

Alex Coughlin’s Challenge series kicks off Resurgence

Resurgence kicked off from the sold out Torch at L.A. Coliseum with Alex Coughlin’s Challenge Match Series continuing, Karl Fredericks his latest opponent.

Both opponents showed how well they know one another as they struggled for control on the mat in the early going, but it was Coughlin throwing the first strikes, and then bowling Fredericks over with a tackle. Control didn’t last long though, as a high cross and stomp put Fredericks in charge, a kitchen sink buried to the mid section putting the Dojo captain to the mat.

A signature misdirect and flying tackle though, and Coughlin was back in the hot seat, and a popped front suplex sent the Alpha Wolf flying. Fredericks resisted a half crab, but the pure power of Coughlin saw him hoisted for a gutbuster and then a gutwrench suplex for two.

Fredericks found an overhead kick to respond, and Shibata-ist elbows and a stalling dropkick in the corner followed up. As momentum built, Fredericks connected with a side suplex, and then a spinebuster, before taking a rare STF on Coughlin. The Alpha Wolf looked to connect with the MD, but Coughlin’s will to win showed through, a stinging chop and then backbreaker being followed by a bridging fallaway slam.

Coughlin rocked Fredericks with a lariat from downtown that nearly put Fredericks away. Fredericks fired back and tried once more for the MD; Coughlin resisted and hoisted his opponent for a suplex, but a float over led to a neckbreaker and the MD. Backstage, Coughlin would declare that his journey was far from over, as his challenge series appears set to continue.
