Toru Yano retains KOPW 2021in Amateur Battle

Yano wins in two periods 6-5.

A unique amateur wrestling rules match saw the KOPW2021 trophy defended at Power Struggle, Great-O-Khan facing Toru Yano in two three minute periods under UWW amateur rules, and officiated by Yuji Nagata, Kenta Sato and Marty Asami.

O-Khan and Yano threw back to their roots, wearing Team Bushiroad and Nippon Univeristy singlets respectively. With no points awarded in the first 90 seconds, Yano would get the first score on the board by pushing O-Khan to the ropes for one point. O-Khan would get the first take down for twop points, and then rolled Yano for another two, taking a 4-1 lead before the end of the first period.

Yano would get his second point by pushing O-Khan to the ropes as the second period got underway, but the Dominator responded in kind. With a three point difference and less than 50 seconds on the clock, Yano needed and got a suplex before a rear mount to instantly go up 6-5. Grabbing a front chancerie, Yano was able to ride out the clock and win to retain his KOPW 2021 trophy.

Post match, the disappointed O-Khan lashed out, along with his cornerman Aaron Henare, Yano laid out with the Eliminator, but still the king of both amateur and professional wrestling worlds.
