Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI address world as 2021 World Tag League Winners

CHAOS discuss trophy win, Dangerous Tekkers at Wrestle Kingdom

Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI addressed the world on December 16 for the first time as World tag League 2021 winners. At a special press conference in Tokyo, the duo spoke about their tournament win, and their ensuing challenge to IWGP Tag team Champions Dangerous Tekkers on January 4 in the Tokyo Dome.

Addressing the conference first, Hirooki Goto stated:

‘I’ve teamed with YOSHI-HASHI for a few years now, but yesterday we were finally able to pull off the big one, and I couldn’t be happier. But our job isn’t finished yet. This isn’t our end goal and we don’t plan on standing still. We only plan on going up from here’.

YOSHI-HASHI followed, stating:

‘This was definitely a major result. This morning, waking up and seeing the trophy was a reminder that we did it and won the league, but also that the next thing is to take the tag titles from Zack and Taichi at the Tokyo Dome.’

Official questions:

–Goto, you’ve won the World Tag League with Katsuyori Shibata and Karl Anderson in the past. How does this win differ?

Goto: It was my first win as a part of CHAOS, so in that sense, it was a fresh feeling. It’s a completely different sensation. I think when I joined CHAOS it was a complete refresh for me, and I started again from zero. So winning this time with YOSHI-HASHI, it’s just the same as winning (the trophies) for the first time, and I’m just as proud.

–This is your first win, YOSHI-HASHI. Your thoughts on the league?

YOSHI-HASHI:  It was over a month in the league. Getting hurt in the middle of the tournament, I felt guilty having to rely on Goto for support, but it was all the more gratifying when I could do the same in return toward the end.

–You beat Dangerous Tekkers at the end of the league. Your thoughts now on facing them for the titles at the Tokyo Dome?

Goto: They’re ready to go, and I think they’ll be bringing another level. I think it’ll be a different match to the league, and I think they’ll be in absolute peak shape as well. They’ll absolutely be dangerous, and I understand that, but of course, we don’t plan on losing and all I’m thinking about is victory.

–You both have such a wide arsenal of double team maneuvers. Could there be even more new moves to look out for from you at the Tokyo Dome?

YOSHI-HASHI: Perhaps. Me and Goto train a lot in the Dojo, and a lot of the time, we might just think of something together out of the blue while we’re training. So yeah, there’s a chance.

–You lost the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Championships a few weeks ago, but is it safe to say your focus is now on the tag gold first and foremost?

YOSHI-HASHI: The NEVER 6-Man is under the NEVER brand, while this is the IWGP. I think there’s a different history with an IWGP Championship, and it’s a different environment to be in.

Goto: Next we’re challenging for the tag titles, but we still have a strong connection to the NEVER belts. We will absolutely bring those titles back home to boot.
