EVIL Claims NEVER Gold at Wrestle Kingdom 【WK16】

EVIL unseats Ishii January 4

EVIL has been crowned NEVER Openweight Champion, ending Tomihiro Ishii’s reign at zero defences and setting himself as a double champion in the openweight ranks ahead of January 5’s NEVER openweight 6-Man tag team Championship defence against CHAOS.

EVIL, seconded by Dick Togo, would be quick to take his first shortcut of the match, grabbing steel chairs, and with Togo providing a distraction to Ishii, delivering a home run swing. Togo would also remove the turnbuckle pad just in time for the champion to be driven into the naked steel, though the Stone Pitbull would fight fire with fire, and after EVIL tasted the steel himself, Ishii managed to mount offense with a lariat and back suplex.

Ishii shrugged off a chair shot to the back from Togo, and delivered a big lariat to take his challenger to the mat before delivering a big superplex. The desperate EVIL would duly grab the referee and shove him into the path of an Ishii lariat, allowing first Yujiro Takahashi and then SHO to get involved. YOPH would head out to somewhat even the odds, but the numbers game would prove too much even as Ishii fired up. As Togo drew the referee and YOH was held back, a belt shot from EVIL rang off the skull, and EVIL followed to crown a new champion.
