Tanahashi flies high on Forbidden Door path

Ace victorious in STRONG main event

The main event this week on NJPW STRONG saw Hiroshi Tanahashi look to head victorious into his match with Jon Moxley for the interim AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door. Tanahashi would have trademark control over his opponent early, but Dickinson would create an opening when he went downstairs on the Ace, and focused his offense on Tanahashi’s leg as he worked for a Figure Four.

The Ace would battle back with a knockdown and a Dragon Screw of his own, before going up for a High Fly Attack, only to be rolled through into the Figure Four. Dickinson would transition into an STF,  but Tanahashi would find the ropes, and countered a brainbuster into Twist and Shout before a Slingblade and then the High Fly Flow.

Jake Something would make his STRONG debut this week when he faced Big Bad Brody King. After a tense standoff, King would score the first knockdown of the match, but Something would connect with a heavy blow of his own. Both men would want a decisive knockout blow, King getting two from a piledriver, and Something landing an incredible powerbomb.

Something would follow with a plancha to the floor, and brought King back inside for a Black Hole Slam, but would be shut down by the Big Bad. King landed a lariat for two, and quickly followed with the Gonzo Bomb to secure the victory.

Delirious made his own NJPW STRONG debut opposite Ariya Daivari. The unique stylings of Delirious had Daivari flustered until he found a target on the masked man’s neck. Delirious was able to misdirect his foe and connect with a lariat and a barrage of legdrops, but it would be Daivari’s hammerlock lariat to create victory.

STRONG kicked off with ‘The Android’ Alex Coughlin making his re-debut as he continued his issues with JR Kratos, a defacto singles match breaking out in a scheduled six man bout. Kevin Knight and The DKC would bring the fight to West Coast Wrecking Crew, but it would be Jorel Nelson and Royce Isaacs picking up the win with a double team on DKC.
