World Tag League update- night 5

TMDK still top the table in Fujisawa

Night five of World Tag League saw the third matches for A Block, with the main event putting TMDK in a bid to move to six points against HENARE and Great-O-Khan.

Watch the replay!

After antagonistic comments about Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls, Great-O-Khan and Haste in particular were gunning for one another. That led to furry exchanges, including on the outside, where O-Khan sent Haste tumbling through the English announce position. Meanwhile HENARE and Mikey Nicholls picked up where they left off from a hard hitting G1 bout. When Haste got a semblance of revenge on O-Khan, Mikey assisted for a top rope Olivia Newton-Bomb but there wasn’t enough for the three.

Instead HENARE and O-Khan took over with authority. After HENARE blasted Nicholls with a kick to the ear, they drew on the Aussie Open playbook for a sandwich lariat, which led to an assisted powerbomb. It looked as if United Empire were cruising to an Imperial Drop victory, but the double team was broken up, and instead it was the Tankbuster that kept TMDK undefeated.

Ryohei Oiwa and Kaito Kiyomiya took on HOUSE OF TORTURE’s EVIL and Yujiro Takahashi. It was clear that Kiyomiya was not used to H.O.T’s dishonourable way of doing business, and he found himself punished and unable to escape from the clutches of the blue corner. A big suplex finally brought Oiwa in, but he too would labour under a half Crab from EVIL, eventually able to land a gutwrench Suplex on Yujiro and get Kiyomiya back inside.

As the NOAH duo started to build steam, SHO and Kanemaru made an inevitable appearance, whiskey mist and low blows setting Kiyomiya and Oiwa for defeat. Even as Kiyomiya tried to get quick flash pins, the referee would be drawn away, but Kaito still kicked out of Yujiro’s Pimp Juice. As he and Oiwa finally got things together, the two cleared distractions from the apron, and a hurricanrana brought a pinfall win- even as H.O.T put the boots in afterward, an emphatic German suplex from Oiwa and a Shining Wizard from Kaito underscored their winning form.

Gabe Kidd and Alex Coughlin battled Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano in a wild brawl characteristic of the four. Yano and Ishii took a page out of the BULLET CLUB War Dogs’ book, jumping their opponents on their entrance. Kidd and Coughlin took control on the floor, and with Coughlin’s incredible power suplexes, in the ring as well. Yano would get quick enough to send Kidd repeatedly colliding with his partner, and a dash of Yano Magic nearly got him a schoolboy win, but Kidd would recover, blasting the CHAOS member with a right hand and a Piledriver for the win.

The first league match of the night saw Gates of Agony take their third loss at the hands of Ren Narita and Shota Umino. Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona were formidable throughout as Umino and Narita struggled to get anything more than on the break offense, but they were able to make those breaks count the most. One such offensive opportunity saw Umino counter Kaun’s Vay-Am-Bay with the Deathrider, giving two more points to his team.

World Tag League continues in Fukushima Sunday. Soberano Jr. and Atlantis Jr. face Monstersauce, Bishamon face the Rogue Army, Suzuki and Nagata face Taichi and Uemura, and the main event sees Tsuji and Zandokan Jr. take on Hikuleo and El Phantasmo.
