Eddie Kingston stays STRONG, gains Continental Crown 【NJoA】

Mad King gets big result at World’s End

AEW’s World’s End pay per view event at the Nassau Coliseum on December 30 saw the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship defended alongside the ROH World Championship as part of the ‘AEW Continental Crown’ along with the freshly minted Continental title in the finals of the Continental Classic tournament, Eddie Kingston facing Jon Moxley.

The two combatants tested one another in grapples and strikes early, meeting in the middle but neither giving way until an enzuigiri sent Moxley to the outside where he was met with a dangerous tope suicida. The dive jarred the head of Kingston, and Moxley made him pay back in with a German suplex.

Outside, Moxley landed a Death Rider on the floor, granting him a solid advantage. The Mad King tried to battle back, but found his chop blocked hard, and a piledriver followed for two. When Eddie’s chop did connect, Mox was finally rattled, responding in kind and opening up an exchange that ended with an exploder suplex and backfist from Kingston.

Eddie would rattle off machine gun chops, before a Northern Lights Bomb for two. Taking a page out of Moxley’s book, he transitioned into a Bulldog choke, and then anvil elbows to the neck. Moxley nearly forced a decision with a choke of his own, but Kingston would rally with a near knockout blow and another Northern Lights Bomb for a much nearer two. A wild lariat from Moxley didn’t end the match as Kingston battled to his knees and then his feet striking all the way; after a barrage of slaps, Kingston found a massive backfist that put Moxley down for three.

Kingston now holds the ‘Continental Crown’ of the ROH World Championship, NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship and the AEW Continental Championship. Kingston is scheduled to wrestle January 13 in San Jose at Battle in the Valley.
