New champion calls out Tanahashi post injury
New IWGP Global Champion Nic Nemeth had made an appeal to team with Hiroshi Tanahashi on day two of New Beginning in Sapporo February. When an injury ensured that was not to be, Nemeth had a different appeal to make.
With Tanahashi ruled out of the day’s competition due to a right ankle injury, he sat on the commentary sidelines while Nemeth teamed as originally planned with Ryusuke Taguchi against former champion David Finlay and Gedo. Though Finlay tried to restore wounded pride as he sought to out grapple Nemeth, the Wanted Man and Taguchi were an effective team, and the Danger Zone saw Nemeth to victory.
After the bell rang, Nemeth addressed Tanahashi at ringside, and said that the dream he now held was to wrestle Tanahashi for the Global gold. The President agreed, and it seems once Tanahashi’s ankle is fully healed, we have a title fight. Where and when?
