Hiroshima sees loaded night on Road to Dontaku

On April 27, the Road to Dontaku runs through Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall, and a one of the biggest nights on the road sees multiple title matches and a heated elimination main event.

The main event sees Los Ingobernables De Japon and the War Dogs doing battle in an elimination tag match. After Shingo Takagi issued a profanity and controversy laden challenge to NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi, and David Finlay confronted Yota Tsuji backstage at Sakura Genesis, a backstage brawl erupted between the two factions, who will do battle throughout the Dontaku series. With this match constituting a preview of multiple key matches for the rest of the April/May series, tensions are sure to be high in Hiroshima.

Yuya Uemura challenges Great-O-Khan in a battle over KOPW2024. Days after O-Khan made his first defence of the KOPW belt against Tanga Loa in Hamamatsu, Uemura’s Storm Clutch put the title holder away at Sakura Genesis in tag action, leading to this confrontation. As O-Khan continues a grass roots effort to unite the ‘fiefdoms’ of Japan underneath his leadership, what rules might he bring to the table in Hiroshima, and how will Uemura respond?

Windy City Riot saw Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste take advantage of a chaotic four way battle in Chicago to come away with their first NJPW gold, taking the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships. The TMDK duo will now have their focus tested against one team- the former champions El Phantasmo and Hikuleo gunning for their titles back.

With plenty more on a loaded card, it’s a big night in Sun Plaza April 27!
