Katsuyori Shibata defends the British Heavyweight Championship won in the UK! The match against Will Ospreay on February 11 in Osaka is changed to a title match for the same championship!!

Katsuyori Shibata, who was on a road trip in the UK, participated in Revolution Pro Wrestling’s (RPW) “RPW HIGH STAKES 2017” held at York Hall, London on January 21 (Saturday) local time.

In the main event, Shibata bet on his British Heavyweight Championship by accepting Matt Riddle’s challenge and succeeded in defending the title at the end of a heated match.

When he heard about this result, Will Ospreay, who has been active in RPW and is himself from the UK, reacted violently.

Backstage at Korakuen Hall on January 22, he challenged Shibata saying, “In Osaka on February 11, you and me! Due to rules, Shibata cannot win my belt but if I win, your heavyweight belt will be mine. I’d be stupid not to go for this chance and show him!”

Although the special single match in Osaka was originally set to be a title defense match, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has only recently made a formal decision to hold a British Heavyweight Championship title match as a part of “NEW BEGINNING in OSAKA”.

It will be held on February 11 (Sat.) at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium (Edion Arena Osaka)

Shibata now must face a fiery Ospreay who stated “I will fight for my country! You think you know me, but I have more up my sleeve than just high flying!”
