★ IWGP Retsuden COMPLETE-BOX Ⅷ [Blu-ray box set]
The 8th installment of “IWGP Retsuden”, a DVD series that traces the passion, fire and explosive action of the IWGP
Heavyweight championship throughout its history, is now available for pre-order online. Featuring ultra-rare matches not available anywhere else, this box set is a must have for any New Japan completionist.
Disc one traces the story of Togi Makabe’s rampage through New Japan, Satoshi Kojima’s glorious return to the cerulean blue and then the Ace regains his prize. Also featuring his defenses against Kojima and Nagata, this disc sees the start of the legendary ‘V11’ era.
Disc two sees Hiroshi Tanahashi take on eternal rival Shinsuke Nakamura, the fierce warrior Hirooki Goto, foreign monster Giant Bernard and the genius Tetsuya Naito. Spreading his love of the fans nationwide, he equals Shinya Hashimoto’s legendary record with his 9th victory as champion against Toru Yano.
Disc three kicks off with Tanahashi’s greatest moment as he bests Nagata to tie his record and Minoru Suzuki to gain the
elusive V11 and be crowned the greatest champion in NJPW history up to that point. Waiting in the wings though is 24-year old Kazuchika Okada, a man with skill, looks and a ruthless streak. A new era would be born in Osaka as the Rainmaker Shock upended the status quo in New Japan. The disc continues as the brash young champion faces down Naito and Goto before running into Tanahashi in Osaka once again.
