CHAOS reigns in Korakuen

Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto emerge from all CHAOS war with NEVER 6-Man titles

The last stop on the New Japan Road tour in Korakuen Hall on September 11 saw YOSHI-HASHI, Tomohiro Ishii and Hirooki Goto defend their NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships for the first time against CHAOS teammates in SHO, Toru Yano and Kazuchika Okada.

To the surprise of few given their antagonism in recent weeks, Tomohiro Ishii and SHO started the match, SHO taking down the Stone Pitbull before both sides tagged out to Goto and Yano. Okada and YOSHI-HASHI followed, with YOSHI-HASHI landing an impressive Headhunter neckbreaker to Okada, before being taken down to the floor and shot into the guardrails.

Even as the challenging team took control of YOSHI-HASHI, SHO couldn’t let go of his obsession with Ishii, repeatedly throwing shots on the apron, which all opened the door for a rewind kick that brought Goto back into the ring. An enraged Ishii waited for an eventual tag and flew in with furious anger, first to Okada and then especially to SHO, chops to the throat and an almighty shoulder tackle bowling over his younger teammate.

Bodies continued to fly, and Goto and YOSHI-HASHI capitalized with a double team UshiGoroshi. Yano prevented a follow up though, creating more opportunity for SHO to target Ishii with a deadlift German, and an underhook piledriver.

YOSHI-HASHI prevented Shock Arrow, and connected with more double team offense with Goto, but there was still no quit in SHO. The junior heavyweight star popped up from incredibly impactful offense, but a Vertical Drop Brainbuster finally proved too much at just shy of 19 minutes. Post match, even SHO joined in a congratulatory show of sportsmanship; after a star performance even in defeat, his story in 2020 appears far from over.
