Goto Gunstun, do not collect titles; GoD retain

Guerrillas of Destiny go V2 in Osaka.

The first of four championship matchups on night two of Castle Attack saw the Guerrillas of Destiny retain the IWGP Tag Team Championships despite a spirited challenge from YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto.

While the challengers connected well to go after both champions and cornerman Jado in the early going, the match almost ended via stoppage just minutes in. A powerbomb from Tanga Loa saw a sharp impact to the Headhunter and a pause as the referee checked on YOSHI-HASHI’s status. The CHAOS member was still in the hunt however, and fired back with all he had until a reverse rewind kick brought Goto inside.

Goto had high impact collisions with Loa that brought both men off their feet; as YOSHI-HASHI tagged in he did so recovered and with a ball of fire. A lariat to Tonga scored two, but G.o.D would gain control with tandem offense.

The champions would land a big reverse neckbreaker to YOSHI-HASHI, and Guerilla Warfare would stop Goto breaking things up. Magic Killer followed, but wasn’t enough; the champs wanted the Super Powerbomb instead but the Headhunter refused to eat defeat with desperate counters.

As YOSHI-HASHI seemed to be close to a crushing double splash, he evaded both brothers as they came off the top to make the hot tag. Goto did bowled over all three men on the BULLET CLUB side, and as the match broke down, he and YOSHI-HASHI connected with an array of double teams. GYW got two for the challengers, but GYR was stopped by a Loa German suplex. A Superman Punch to YOSHI-HASHI, Ushigoroshi to Tonga and powerslam to Goto put all four men down.

Goto and Tonga Would find their feet and both looked to end the match. Tonga was doggedly persistent looking for the Gunstun, but no attempt worked and a double team GTW almost making for new champs. The challengers once again went for GYR, again broken up by Loa with title belt in hand. As the referee tried to get the hardware out of the ring, a well placed came swing from Jado on the floor led to a Tonga Gunstun and a successful defence.

The ever bullish Tonga declared that they were open to challenges from any team anywhere in the world; certainly they are the standard to aim for.
