Road to Wrestling Dontaku night 6 preview

Second stretch of events in Korakuen kicks off Sunday

After the Road to Wrestling Dontaku heads to Tochigi on Friday for a live event, the action returns to Korakuen Hall on Sunday April 18, with the first of a triple header that will end with a NEVER 6-Man Tag team title match Tuesday.

Watch the Road to Dontaku LIVE and in English on demand with NJPW World!

Main event: Los Ingobernables De Japon (Tetsuya Naito & SANADA) vs United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Aaron Henare)

Our main event will see a pair of previews of Hiroshima singles action on April 26 as Tetsuya Naito and SANADA team up against the United Empire’s Great-O-Khan and Aaron Henare. When Henare joined the United Empire on April 4 at Sakura Genesis, he immediately targeted SANADA, leading to a singles challenge for Hiroshima’s Road to Dontaku event, while Great-O-Khan continued in a ruthless campaign against Naito that started in the first round of the New Japan Cup. With recent results going against LIJ in multi man matches, can the two on two up close nature tonight work to their advantage on night six of the Road to Dontaku?

4th Match: Los Ingobernables De Japon (Shingo Takagi & BUSHI) vs United Empire (Will Ospreay & Jeff Cobb)

The semi main event will see Jeff Cobb and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay team up against number one contender Shingo Takagi and BUSHI. Takagi has shown Ospreay just how fired up he is for Dontaku’s world title match, and exchanges thus far on the road to Dontaku have been high paced and aggressive, but the results haven’t all gone Shingo’s way. After a win in the Yokohama tour opening main event, LIJ lost their next two bouts, most recently BUSHI taking the fall from a huge Cobb Tour of the Islands at Korakuen Tuesday. Will he have an answer for Cobb tonight, as Shingo, fresh off a win in the last Korakuen main event Thursday, looks to continue taking the fight to the champion?

3rd Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi, EVIL, Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI vs BULLET CLUB (EVIL, KENTA, Yujiro Takahashi, Taiji Ishimori & Gedo)

Third on the billing, it’s the last meeting of champions and challengers or the NEVER 6-Man titles before singles action Monday night is followed by Tuesday’s championship main event. As both teams have battled in and around the ring, what will happen in tonight’s final preview? Meanwhile, Sunday will see a result rendered in the KOPW 2021 poll, as we will know tonight whether Toru Yano vs EVIL at Satsuma no Kuni on April 28 will be a ‘creation of darkness blindfold match’ or a ‘darkness match’. Will that inform the strategy for either competitor Sunday?

2nd Match: Suzuki-Gun (Zack Sabre Jr., Taichi & DOUKI) vs BULLET CLUB (Jado, Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa)

At time of writing, Dangerous Tekkers and DOUKI are 2-1 up on Guerrillas of Destiny and Jado, but now on meeting six of a long series before singles confrontations in Fukuoka May 3 will the BULLET CLUB side even the score, or will Suzuki-Gun pull further in front?

1st Match: Tomoaki Honma, SHO & YOH vs Suzuki-Gun (Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)

The action will kick off with Tomoaki Honma once again joining Roppongi 3K to take on the Suzuki-Gun team o0f El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Minoru Suzuki. After starting the tour teaming with Young Lions, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions had Honma added to their side on Thursday, and the Kokeshi master was eager to get New Japan Cup revenge on Suzuki. Meanwhile the champions were eager to get revenge for their April 28 challengers’ actions of late. YOH and SHO have found it difficult to get results as YOH’s surgically repaired knee continues to be a question mark, and as Desperado continues to mock the fresh returnee. Will there be an answer tonight?
